During our global week we learnt all about Africa. A
lady from Ghana called Miso'shi came to work with us
and she told us what it is like to live in Ghana. She
showed us how the women carry children on their
backs and baskets on their heads. We did lots of
African drumming and dancing and she told us some
traditional stories from Africa and then we did some
printing. When we played the drumming rhythms it was
loud and it thumped away inside my chest.
Last week we went to Grimsby Leisure Centre and
we did loads of sports activities with Jon. We played
football and hockey outside on the all weather pitch
and some tagging games. We had to keep running to
the corner when Jon shouted bananas. At dinnertime
we had a picnic under the trees outside because it
was sunny. In the afternoon we went inside and
played games and we had obstacle races. We worked
really hard and at the end of the day my legs were
really tired because I had been using my muscles.
Before we went back to school Jon gave us some
tokens to go swimming or ice skating. It was a
fantastic day.
Classes 1 and 2 went to Nettleton for a trip and we
walked right up to the top of the Lincolnshire Wolds
and down through the valley. When we were at the top
you could see the Humber Bridge in the distance.
Sometimes we had to climb over styles and if we went
through a gate we had to close it behind us. We even
went over a cattle grid. There was some funny looking
sheep called Jacobs with long brown hair and some
very big cows that stared at us. I was a bit nervous
of them. We saw lots of butterflies and flowers and
there was lots of cow pooh on the ground. When we
got to Mrs Doyle's house we had a picnic and then we
went to see a big Shire horse called Donald. He was
massive and he was 14 years old. It was the best day
ever!
